The Denison men's track and field team finished seventh overall after climbing two spots on the final day of the North Coast Athletic Conference Championship.
Wabash captured the team title with 282 points, while Ohio Wesleyan finished runner up with 178.5 tallies. Allegheny was third with 94 points followed by Oberlin (61), Wittenberg (59), DePauw (52), Denison (33.5), Wooster (33) and Kenyon (24).
DU sophomore Wallace Branche won his second NCAC triple jump title, and his first in the outdoor season, on Saturday afternoon. Branche won the event with a combined leap of 46'7.25". With his victory, the sophomore earned his fourth all-conference award. In addition to Branche's 10 points, the Big Red also scored 4.5 more points in the field events.
Sophomore transfer Bryan Fowler was sixth in the javelin with a personal-best performance of 159'3". Fowler's mark was a three inch improvement on her previous PR. Freshman Trent Babb rounded out the scoring in Saturday's field events. Babb finished in a tie for seventh in the high jump after clearing 5'8".
Sophomore Quenton Richards posted a pair of top-5 performances in the 100 and 200 dashes. In the 200-meter event, the sophomore sprinter finished fourth after clocking in at 22.87, four hundredths of a second behind third-place Aaron Schuler of Wabash. Roughly 30 minutes before his fourth-place performance, Richards finished fifth in the 100 dash with a time of 11.27. In addition to his individual performances, the sophomore was ran the anchor leg of DU's fourth-place 4x100 relay team. Richards along with Babb, Branche and Luke Romick combined to finish the race in 43.97.
Denison rounded out the scoring with an eighth-place finish in the 4x400 relay, the final event of the championship. The foursome of Romick, Ivan Hall, Babb and Mitch Keller completed the race in 3:30.09. Ohio Wesleyan won the race with a time of 3:19.59.
