The Big Red men's outdoor track and field team logged four top-4 finishes and collected 42 points en route to a ninth-place finish at the Marv Frye Invitational on Saturday in Delaware, Ohio.
Freshman Wallace Branche led Denison with a victory in the triple jump. Branche won the event with a leap of 45-06.50, which bested is previous PR by 2-07.50. That performance also moved the rookie into sixth on the school's top performers list.
Senior Chad Kosanovich also picked up eight points with a runner-up finish in the 5,000-meter run. Kosanovich crossed the finish line in 15:01.70, which met the qualifying standard for the North Coast Athletic Conference Championship meet in May.
First-years Sam Posniewski and Ryan Keller each recorded fourth-place performances at OWU. Posniewski posted a new PR time of 55.81, which moved him into sixth on DU's top performers list, while Keller clocked in at 1:59.40 in the 800. Sophomore Jordan Dekel finished sixth in the 3,000-meter steeple chase (10:50.82).
The trio of senior Dimonde Hale, sophomore Andy Shaw and freshman Quenton Richards recorded seventh-place finishes in their respective events. Hale recorded a time of 50.15 in the 400, Shaw tossed the discus 130-09, and Richards finished the 100-meter dash in 11.25. In the 1500, senior Jacob Ott finished eighth after crossing the finish line in 4:06.41.
In the 4x100 relay, the team of Jordan Patterson, Joe Nichols, Ian Mulmat and Richards combined for a time of 44.35, which landed them in fifth place.
Denison returns to Delaware next Saturday for the Division III All-Ohio Championships. Events are scheduled to begin at 11:30 a.m.
