The Denison women's indoor track & field team competed at the unscored Ohio Wesleyan University Open on Friday evening in Delaware, Ohio.
First-year Sarah McKendry paced the Big Red with a victory in the 3,000-meter run. The rookie distance runner completed the race in 11:26.05, edging out the Bishops' Sara Scinto by 31 hundredths of a second.
Sophomores Jillian Reagan and Kendra Epstein combined for four top-10 finishes on the evening. Reagan finished second in the 500-meter run (1:36.44) and ninth in the 60-meter hurdles (11.87). Epstein took sixth in the 200-meter dash after crossing the line in 31.00. The second-year athlete also placed ninth in the long jump with a leap of 14-02.50.
First-year thrower Rebecca Fritch also logged a pair of ninth-place finishes. Fritch logged a toss of 30-08.50 in the shot put and a heave of 28-03.00 in the weight thrown.
The Big Red returns to the track on Saturday at the Division III All-Ohio Championships hosted by Otterbein University. Events are scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
