After placing fourth in 2015, Denison moved up a spot, taking third-place at the 2016 North Coast Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championship from Kenyon College.
The Big Red posted eight scoring performances on Saturday afternoon, led by a pair of second-place finishes by first-year Ajai Brooks.
Running in her first conference championship, Brooks followed her PR time of 7.88 in Friday's 60-meter dash preliminaries with a time of 7.83, just .03 shy of the school record set by Tiffany Davis in 2014. First-place in the 60-meter dash went to Wittenberg's Brea Medlock who broke her own conference record with a time of 7.73.
In the 200 meter dash, Brooks posted a time of 25.43 seconds to take second. That was also a PR for Brooks and the second-best performance in DU history.
In the mile, Kate Benson would break her own school record after logging a time of 5:14.35 which landed her fourth in the standings. Emily Grabauskas would place sixth in 5:21.10. Between the two, Denison would total nine points in the event.
Senior Aedin Brennan would place fifth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:00.59 while Alyssa Bahel finished eighth in the 3,000 meters in 10:57.85. Following in 10th and 14th respectively in the 3,000 meters was Lindsey Studebaker in 11:03.73 and Anna Fash (11:21.03).
The first relay of the day, the 4x200 saw Denison's team of Brennan, Macy Diaz, Kalani Rose and Brooks take third in 1:48.50. Wittenberg was the winner in 1:46.01.
They would close out the championship by finishing seventh in the 4x400 relay in 4:20.82. That team was comprised of Benson, Rose, Phoebe Osterhout and Grabauskas.
Denison finished with 91 points, placing them 12 points in front of fourth-place Allegheny. Ohio Wesleyan was the team champion with 171 points while Oberlin placed second with 131.5 points.
