Denison senior Chris Roth and junior Chad Kosanovich each posted third-place finishes at the 6th Annual Gator Invitational hosted by Allegheny College on Friday night.
Roth opened the night for the Big Red in the 200-meter dash. Last weekend, the senior ran a personal-best 21.55 in Meadville en route to a second-place finish at the 2010 North Coast Athletic Conference Outdoor Championship. His time at the conference meet currently ranks 17th in the nation according to the Track & Field Results Reporting System (TFRRS) website. On Friday, he finished third in the event behind a pair of Buffalo State runners. Roth's time of 21.90 was three hundredths of a second behind second place Davon Rollins and 13 hundredths of a second behind event-winner Jalen Law.
In the 1500-meter run, Kosanovich posted a career-best time of 3:54.56 en route to his third-place finish. The junior distance runner shaved over three and a half seconds off his previous top performance (3:58.13). Kosanovich finished 23 hundredths of a second behind second-place Cody Amengual from Cortland State. James Zeuch from Brooks R.E.D. won the race with a time of 3:50.70.
The Gregory Invitational hosted by North Central College is the next event scheduled on the Denison schedule.
