The Denison men's outdoor track and field team took seventh at the annual Marv Frye Invitational hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University.
Senior Chris Roth paced the Big Red with a pair of top-3 finishes. Roth took second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.17, and logged a third-place finish in the 100 after clocking in at 11.11. Both performances ranked eighth on DU's all-time performer's list.
Junior Chad Kosanovich and senior Alexander Chappars both finished in the top-5 in the 5,000-meter run. Kosanovich crossed the finish line in 14:54.61 en route to a runner-up finish, while Chappars took fourth with a time of 15:30.79. The junior's time was the fifth-best in school history. Sophomore Jonathan Brachna also helped the DU cause with a fifth-place finish in the 800-meter run (1:59.33), while junior Dimonde Hale placed sixth in the 400 with a time of 49.57.
In the relay events, the foursome of Brachna, Stephen Czujko, Ivanhoe Hall and Hale finished the 4x400 in 3:29.65 en route to a fifth-place finish. The 4x100 grouping of Roth, Joe Nichols, Win Fox and Hale took eighth with a time of 44.26.
Nichols and senior Wendell Taylor paced Denison in the field events. Nichols finished 13th in the triple jump with a leap of 37-11.50, while Taylor was 14th in the shot put with a toss of 39-03.75.
The Big Red returns to Delaware next Saturday for the Division III All-Ohio Championship. Events are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
