Denison hosted the final tune-up before the 2012 North Coast Athletic Conference Championship on Friday evening from the Mitchell Center in Granville.
Sophomore Tiffany Davis continued to shine in the 60-meter dash, winning the event with a time of 7.83. In addition, Davis posted a personal best time of 7.81 in the prelims of the 60. Trailing Davis was teammate Rose Schrott who finished fifth with a time of 8.47.
Also posting a victory for the Big Red was junior distance runner Michelle Clark who won the 3,000 after clocking in at 10:40.27. Rookie Abbi Boss took fifth in the event with a time of 10:58.25. DU got a pair of second-place finishes from senior Ani Mutafova and sophomore Emily Siskind. Mutafova crossed the line at 5:24.45 in the mile run, while Siskind posted a time of 2:29.89 in the 800-meter run. First-year Jillian Reagan also logged a top-5 finish in the 60-meter hurdles after recording a time of 11.82. The performances by both Clark and Mutafova were personal bests and were the fifth-best performances in school history.
In the field events, senior Katherine Sylvia finished third in the shot put with a toss of 34'11.50", while rookie Kristen Geary and senior Ashlee Dickson finished fifth and sixth after clearing 9'6.25". All three field performances were personal records and ranked fifth-best in program history. The 4x200 relay team of Schrott, Siskind, Reagan and senior Laura Houcque took fourth and posted a time of 1:59.10.
The Big Red returns to action on Friday when they travel to Crawfordsville, Ind. for the NCAC Championship meet.
