The Denison University men's outdoor track and field team competed at the Kenyon Spring Invitational in Gambier, Ohio on Saturday.
Chad Kosanovich paced the Big Red with a second-place finish in the 1,500-meter run. Kosanovich completed the distance event in 4:09.89. Sophomore Dimonde Hale and senior Alphonse Harris both posted third-place finishes. Hale logged a time of 49.89 in the 400 meters, while Harris crossed in 16:17.83 in the 5,000-meter run. Irwin Castro also took third in the 400 hurdles (1:07.85), while Stephen Czujko and Dan Doggett finished fourth and fifth in the 800(2:02.98) and 5,000 (16:25.67) meters, respectively.
Wendell Taylor posted a pair of top-5 finishes in the field events. Taylor was third in the shot put with a toss of 42-04.66 and fifth in the hammer throw with a distance of 112-09.93. Joe Nichols also posted a fourth-place finish in the long jump with a leap of 18-05.25.
At the Jesse Owens Classic hosted by Ohio State University, junior Dee Salukombo recorded an NCAA provisional time in the 1,500-meter run. Salukombo's time of 3:53.28 won his heat and landed him in ninth place overall. The junior will compete in the 5,000-meter run at the Hillsdale Relays next weekend.
The Big Red return to action on Friday (April 29) when they host the Big Red Invitational.
