The Denison University men's outdoor track and field team placed 13th at the 2011 Division III All-Ohio Championships on Saturday in Delaware, Ohio.
Sophomore Dimonde Hale paced the Big Red with a second-place finish in the 400-meter dash (49.32), while junior Alexander Chappars took third in the 10,000-meter run with a time of 32:12.78. Chad Kosanovich finished 10th in the 1,500 meters after crossing the finish line in 4:07.77.
Denison had three runners finish in the top 20 in the 5,000-meter run. Steven Johnson took 11th with a time of 15:59.24, while Dan Doggett and Russell Holden were 13th (16:07.83) and 19th (16:43.87), respectively. Chris Roth finished 17th in the 200-meter dash (23.82), while Jon Brachna was 19th in the 400 meters with a time of 51.84.
Senior Steven Gallego notched a pair of top 20 finishes. Gallego was seventh in the javelin throw with a distance of 152-.05. He also took 17th in the discus with a toss of 111-03. The 4x400 relay team of Win Fox, Michael Cohen, Pat Effinger and Hale finished 10th with a time of 3:31.59.
DU returns to action on Saturday (April 23) at the Kenyon Spring Invitational in Grambier, Ohio.
