The Denison University men's outdoor track and field team took sixth at the College of Wooster Invitational on Friday in Wooster, Ohio.
Sophomore Dimonde Hale paced the Big Red with a victory in the 400-meter dash. Hale crossed the line in 50.25, almost a second and a half faster then runner-up Darren Campbell of Edinboro. Junior Chris Roth also logged a pair of top-5 finishes. Roth took fourth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.20, and posted a time of 11.55 en route to a fifth-place finish in the 100-meter dash. Stephen Czujko finished the 800-meter run in 2:04.99 which was good enough for an eighth-place finish.
In the field events, junior Wendell Taylor took fourth in both the shot put and discus throw. Taylor tossed the shot 40-07.50, and threw the discus 106-04. Senior Steven Gallego recorded a pair of sixth-place finishes in the shot put and javelin. Gallego had a heave of 40-03.25 in the shot put, and notched a distance of 138-03 in the javelin throw. Sophomore Joe Nichols also placed fifth in the high jump after clearing 5-06.00.
Rounding out the scoring was the Denison relay team that finished second with a time of 3:33.99.
DU returns to action on Saturday (April 9) when they take part in the annual Marv Frye Invitational hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University.
