Women's Indoor Track

Denison places sixth at Greater Columbus

The Denison University women's indoor track and field team finished sixth at the annual Greater Columbus Invitational hosted by Otterbein University on Saturday afternoon in Westerville, Ohio.

The sophomore duo of Laura Houcque (Elkhorn, Wis./Evanston Township [Ill.]) and Anne McGinty (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mt. Lebanon) paced the Big Red with a pair of third-place finishes.  Houcque completed the 500-meter run in 1:34.58, while McGinty crossed the line in the 5,000-meter run at 20:29.94.  Senior Julie Rotramel (Lexington, Ky./Lafayette) logged a fourth-place finish in the 1 mile run with a time of 5:37.04, while classmate Ashley Putnam (North East, Pa./North East) finished the 800-meter run in 2:27.65 en route to a fifth-place finish.

In the field events, rookie Christa Meyers (Portage, Ind./Hathaway Brown [Ohio]) cleared 4-10.25 to take seventh in the high jump.  Rounding out the scoring was the 4x200 relay team of junior Alesha Stewart (Houma, La./La. School for M, S & A), first-year Rose Schrott (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mt. Lebanon), sophomore Liz Arnold (Louisville, Ky./Assumption) and senior Laura Wolgamott (Loudonville, Ohio/Loudonville) .  The foursome took third after completing the event in 1:57.09.

The Big Red returns to action on Friday (Feb. 11) when they compete at the Capital Crusader Invitational.
