Denison's Dee Salukombo (Lakewood, Ohio/Lakewood) placed first in the 5,000 meters and Steve Gallego (Lyndhurst, N.J./New Cannan) won the javelin to lead the Big Red at the Marv Frye Invitational from Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio.

Gallego, the defending conference champion in the javelin, won the event with a throw of 169'4".  In the 5K, Salukombo won with a time of 15:17.54 and teammate Alphonse Harris (Cincinnati, Ohio/Sycamore) placed 12th in 16:04.75.

First-year Cal Keating (Encino, Calif./Notre Dame) had a good day in the high jump and triple jump.  In the triple jump, Keating placed sixth with a leap of 42'8" and he took ninth in the high jump, clearing 5'10".

Denison's day was rounded out by first-year Dimonde Hale (Columbus, Ohio/Northland) who logged a sixth-place finish in the 400 meter dash with a time of 51.14 seconds.  Pat Effinger (Pickerington, Ohio/North) came in 11th in the event with a time of 52.38.  In the 800 meters, Chad Kosanovich (Sewickley, Pa./Quaker Valley) posted a time of 1:57.89.

Denison finished 10th of 15 teams at the meet with 33 total points.  Ohio Wesleyan won the team title with 159.5 points.
