Barney is in her first year as an assistant athletic trainer at Denison University, primarily working with football, men's and women's squash, and softball.

As a Buckeye, she helped cover Ohio State's Men’s Volleyball, Men’s Lacrosse, Men’s Basketball, and Football. She honed her skills in first aid, treatments, rehabs, stretching, and prophylactic taping. Since August of 2024, Barney has been assisting the ATC staff at Pickerington North High School, where she has provided proper return to play and functional testing for athletes in multiple sports with a variety of injuries.

She is a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association and the Ohio Athletic Trainers Association. She holds certifications with the American Red Cross in First Aid and BLS and has obtained REACH certification, a suicide prevention gatekeeper training program.

Barney earned her Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from the Ohio State University and holds an associate's degree in science from Columbus State Community College.
