Ashleigh Jones

Ashleigh Jones joined Denison University's Athletics staff as the director of athletics communications in January of 2025.

As the director of athletics communications Jones is responsible for the maintenance of the denisonbigred.com website and app, she supervises the coverage of all 26 of Denison's varsity teams home and away competition, and manages the Denison Sports Network (DSN). DSN is what houses Denison University Athletics' broadcasting, sports information, creative, and game operations personnel. Students who get involved with DSN have the opportunity to learn hands on skills related to athletics communications, while exploring different means of coverage such as sports journalism, videography and more . 

Career Highlights

  • Winter of 2024 Jones was chosen to be apart of the inaugural cohort for the NCAA Division III Athletic Communicators Emerging Elite Program.
  • Comes to Denison after five years at fellow NCAC institution, DePauw, where she was the associate director of athletics communications and managed a team of student assistants that helped run game day operations and promoted all 23 varsity sports at DePauw.
  • Spring 2023 received the inaugural DePauw University Rising Star Award, this award recipient was nominated and chosen by cabinet members in consultation with supervisors within their division.
  • Fall 2023-24 Jones was selected to the Learfield EDGE Academy cohort
  • She is also an active member of College Sports Communicators (CSC), and volunteers a subcommittee chair for CSCU which focuses on education and promotion of athletics communications
  • Fall 2021 named a MOAA Rising Star Honoree 
  • Advised both DePauw's SAAC and Diverse Athlete Association (formally known as Student-Athletes of Color)
  • Spring 2020 developed a semester-long on-campus internship with the DePauw Media Fellows program to introduce more students to athletics communications

Jones a '14 graduate of Miami University of Ohio earned a bachelor of science degree in kinesiology and minored in communications. After a stint working in healthcare she obtained a masters of leadership (MLD) with an emphasis in sports leadership in 2018 at North Central College.
