Charlie DeLacey was selected to the 2002
Verizon Academic All-America College Division Third Team in men's
basketball released today. He wrapped up his career for the Big Red
making the Academic All-America twice after being named to the
Verizon Academic All-America College Division in 2001.
The senior was the top player for the Denison University Big Red
the past two seasons both on court and in the classroom. The Enon,
Ohio native (Greenon HS) carries an impressive 3.90 GPA in
Economics. He was able to reach the Verizon Academic All-America
District IV College Division First team each of the past two
seasons.
DeLacey paced the Big Red in both scoring (12.9 ppg) and
rebounding (5.4 rpg) as Denison went 7-20 overall and 7-9 in the
North Coast Athletic Conference in 2001-02. He completed his
four-year career with 1,318 points, which ranks eighth on the
school's all-time scoring list, and 507 rebounds in 99 contests.
Charlie led this year's unit in scoring 11 times in 26 games
including two double-doubles after guiding the team with an 18.0
ppg mark a year ago.
