Denison University junior cross country and track and field
standout Elaine Binkley (Columbus, Ohio/Watterson)
was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America first team
for the second consecutive season as voted on by the College Sports
Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
This year, Binkley helped the Denison cross country team to
their second consecutive Great Lakes Regional championship and a
24th place finish at the Division III championships. She has a 4.0
grade point average and was named to Denison's chapter of Phi Beta
Kappa in 2006. She won the 3,000 meters at the North Coast Athletic
Conference Indoor Track and Field Championship and was a
provisional qualifier in the 10,000 meters in outdoor competition
this year. Binkley is the 44th Academic All-American from Denison
University and the fourth DU student athlete in the 2005-06
academic year to achieve this honor. She follows Colleen Wirtz
(Women's Soccer), AJ Jezierski (Baseball) and Erin Coughlin
(Women's Tennis).

Teams Program is the premier, nationwide college scholar-athlete
awards program. It recognizes 816 outstanding student-athletes
annually in Division I, II, III and NAIA covering all NCAA
