Denison Falls to Hamilton College in First Round
Clinton, N.Y.? Senior All-American Laura Peace led all Denison scorers with four goals as the Big Red fall
18-6 the Continentals of Hamilton College in the first round of the NCAA Division III Women's Lacrosse
Championships. Denison finishes the 2001 season with a record of 10-5.
Denison fell behind early 2-0 on goals by Hamilton's Caitlin Wakefield and Helena Marrin. Denison answerd
right back with an unassited goal by senior co-captain Emily Stevens to make the score 2-1, but that was the
closest Denison would get in the contest. The Continentals went on a 8-1 run to close out the first half
leading 10-2.
In the second half, Denison was outscored 8-4 with Peace netting 3 of DU's 4 goals. Junior attacker Jamie
Fox scored Denison's only other goal in the half. Sophomore goaltender Abbie Stewart recorded eleven saves
on 29 shots.
