Big Red Run for National Title Stopped By Bullets
Gettysburg, Pennsylvania? Senior Sean O'Brien led Denison University with two goals and two assists as the Big Red's
run for the Div. III national title ended today in a 13-7 loss to Gettysburg College. Gettysburg will face either undefeated
Nazareth or defending national champion Middlebury in the championship game on Sunday, May 27 at Rutgers Stadium in
Piscataway, N.J. Denison finishes its incredible season with a 12-4 record.
After leading 7-5 at halftime, the Bullets, ranked No. 1 in the final regular season STX/USILA Division III poll, used a 6-2
scoring run in the second half to hold off ninth ranked Denison. The crowd of more than 1,300 people witnessed a close game
despite the scoring margin. Denison fired off 33 shots to Gettysburg 38 and controlled 12 of the 22 face-offs in the game.
Goalie Denison's Peter Royer was called upon to make 6 saves in 60 minutes of action, while Gettysburg goaltender Tim McGinnis
saved the ball eleven times in a full game.
