GAME SUMMARY:

GRANVILLE, Ohio - On a cold blustery, afternoon which saw occasional snow
flying at Barclay-Thomsen Field, host Denison University (6-2) defeated
the visiting Pride of Greensboro College (3-7) in convincing fashion, 20-
8. The poor weather and wet field did not slow down DU's Big Red offense
which scored the first 11 goals of this interregional contest between
Division III teams.

Denison opened the scoring on senior Drew Jones' (Princeton Junction,
N.J.; Peddie) mad dash from the face off just 0:11 into the game. Jones
finished off the day with four goals.  Sophomore Ryan Berger (Devon, PA;
Conestoga), however, finished the day with a game-high eight goals and
three assists to lead the Big Red charge with eleven points, one shy of
the school record. Also coming up big for Denison was junior Sean O'Brien
(Mountain Lakes, N.J.; Mountain Lakes) who netted two goals and seven
assists on the day. Denison also got three points from senior midfielder
T.J. King (West Hartford, Conn.; Hall) who scored one goal and assisted on
two others.

With 3:20 remaining in the first half, Greensboro finally got on the board
with a goal by junior Mars Anguiano (Austin, Texas; Stephen F. Austin) on
a feed from senior Bill Zopp (Greensboro, N.C.; Parkville). The Pride
added another goal before the intermission as junior Chieu Lam
(Alexandria, Va.; Thomas Edison) netted an unassisted score.

Also in the second quarter, Denison continued its offensive onslaught as
sophomores Geoff Mitchell (Norwalk, Conn.; New Canaan) and Jon Staunton
(Charlottesville, Va.; Saint Anne's Belfield) scored goals to give the Big
Red a 12-2 halftime lead.

The third quarter saw more of the same dominance from the Denison attack.
Berger and O'Brien combined for three goals and one assist in the quarter
as the Big Red were able to stretch their lead to 13 goals. Also chipping
in for the DU scoring machine was junior Ryan Cook (Birmingham, Mich.;
Detroit Country Day). Denison sophomore Jon Reusch (Bluebell, Pa.;
Germantown Academy) was the eighth Big Red player to notch a goal versus
the Pride.

As DU substituted freely, Greensboro was able to net four fourth quarter
goals with Anguiano tallying the game's final score, his third of the day.
Also contributing for Greensboro were junior Trevor Shattuck (Annapolis,
Md.; Choate Rosemary Hall), and freshmen Brian Maher (Cheshire, Conn.;
Cheshire) and Jason Failla (Fairfield, N. J.; West Essex).

Sophomore Denison goalie Peter Royer (Avon, Conn.; Westminster School)
played almost the entire game, making seven saves on the afternoon, while
giving up seven goals. DU freshman Nick Saper (Evanston, Ill.; Evanston
Township) made an appearance and was credited with five saves in the last
five minutes of the game while only allowing one goal to get by. Junior
Greensboro starter Michael Cappe (Pasadena, Md.; Chesapeake) made 18 stops
on the day.

Denison will be home against NCAC opponent Oberlin College in its next
contest on Tuesday, April 11, at 7:30 p.m. Greensboro's next game is at
Roanoke College in Salem, Va., on April 12 at 3 p.m.
