Softball Drops Doubleheader at John Carroll

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio. — Denison Softball dropped both of Saturday's doubleheader against John Carroll , falling 9–6 in game one and 2–1 in game two. The Big Red battled back with a four-run fifth inning in game one and got a strong outing in the circle in a tight game two.

Game One: John Carroll 9, Denison 6
Despite a mid-game surge, Denison couldn't overcome an early deficit as John Carroll secured the opener 9–6.

The Blue Streaks built a 5–0 lead through four innings before the Big Red answered in the fifth. RBI singles from Brianna Gonzalez and Leilah Ferrari got Denison on the board, and Indy Workman followed with a two-run single to cut the deficit to one.

John Carroll responded immediately with three runs in the bottom half and added another in the sixth. Denison plated two more in the sixth behind an RBI bunt single from Emily Orsini and a sacrifice fly from Ferrari, but the comeback fell short as the Big Red were held scoreless in the seventh.

Game Two: John Carroll 2, Denison 1
Game two turned into a pitcher's duel, with John Carroll walking it off in the seventh to complete the sweep.

Denison struck first in the opening inning as Leilah Ferrari scored on a defensive error. Madilyn Moffitt was sharp in the circle, holding the Blue Streaks scoreless through five innings.

John Carroll broke through in the sixth on a sacrifice fly to tie the game at 1–1. In the seventh, The Blue Streaks delivered the game-winning RBI double to center field, sealing the 2–1 victory.

Moffitt delivered a strong complete-game effort, allowing just two runs on six hits over 6.1 innings while striking out seven and issuing no walks.

Denison falls to 9–15 overall and 2–4 in NCAC play following the doubleheader.
