Position-By-Position Breakdown
The Big Red graduated six seniors and welcomed nine first-year players to the team this season. They return solid production on both the offensive and defensive sides of the field, along with a formidable amount of experience, thanks to nine seniors on the roster.
Â
Forward
Although the program loses All-NCAC performer and leading scorer Caroline Flynn, the team will get to showcase some young talent who impacted the pitch last season. Rising sophomore Megan Mulvey, who was second on the team in points, returns after a promising first season with the Big Red. Rising senior Kendall Sierens returns after suffering a season-ending injury last season. Before the injury, she started in four of her six games played and had one assist.
Â
Midfield
Mara McGlone returns after being named First Team All-NCAC last season. Last season, the rising junior recorded five goals and three assists for 13 total points, all of which were second on the team. Also returning is rising senior Isabella Guzman, who tallied two goals and two assists on the season. A pair of rising sophomores who enjoyed successful first-year seasons are Lola Tirabassi and Maryn Zavislak, who each started in over 13 games. Mattie Mielke will also be in the mix, as she started in eight of her 18 games played last season.
Â
Defense
The most experienced group on the team, the defense returns four starters who combined for 62 starts, including First Team All-NCAC recipient Sarah Sollinger. Sollinger, Avery Butler, Reily Brinley, and Lauren Jensen all return after helping a Denison defense give up only a conference-best 11 goals, resulting in an average of 0.61 goals per game.
Goalkeepers
Returning at goalie is rising senior Molly Noga, who last year was Third Team All-NCAC. Noga only allowed five goals to be scored against her while recording 30 saves for the season. She finished the regular season with a save percentage of 85.7%. Also in the mix will be first-year Caroline Hague.
