Game 1 (Denison 9, Otterbein 7):

- Otterbein scored twice in the bottom of the fourth inning to keep the game from ending early, and then Groome and Calderon struck again in the top of the sixth with a two-out single to left field by Groome followed by an RBI-triple to right field by Calderon, making it 9-2 Big Red.
- It would turn out that the Cardinals would make it interesting in the bottom of the sixth, hitting a two-run home run to center field and scoring five runs in the inning.
- With the tying run at the plate in the bottom of the sixth, Moffitt got a foul out to first base to end the inning and then got a swinging strikeout to strand two runners on base in the seventh and pick up her first-career save.

- Calderon eventually scored on a sacrifice fly by Leilah Ferrari to make it 5-1 Big Red, and the three-run fifth inning for the Big Red came just in the nick of time as back-to-back bunt singles by Otterbein to start the bottom of the fifth led to a pair of runs on back-to-back, one-out RBI-singles for the Cardinals.
- Then in the sixth, it was Maurer getting the RBI-hit as after Clara Wolff led off with a double down the right field line, Maurer doubled to center field to bring her in and make it a 6-3 Denison lead.
