WOOSTER, Ohio (October 14, 2023) – Denison University women's soccer moved to 1-0-2 in North Coast Athletic Conference play on Saturday afternoon following a 1-1 draw at the College of Wooster. It was the sixth tie of the season for the Big Red (4-2-6 overall) and was their fifth 1-1 tie.
After trading 1-0 decisions during each of the last two seasons, Saturday's matchup saw the two teams score just 14 seconds apart.
Wooster (9-1-3 overall, 1-1-1 NCAC) scored first in the final second of the 76th minute before Denison had the quick answer.
Just nine seconds after the Wooster goal, a shot by Denison's
Callie Davis hit the crossbar, and then Davis' second attempt was saved by Wooster's Kameryn Nelson before
Keaton Rahman was finally able to put one in the back of the net.
Then after the Denison goal, Nelson made a pair of saves on shots by
Kate Dalimonte and
Lauren Jensen in the 80th minute before the final shot of the match was saved by
Molly Noga with five minutes remaining.
Denison fired double-digit shots in both halves and outshot Wooster 24-17 overall, but led by just one shot on goal (8-7) as Noga made a career-high six saves in the match, including five saves in the second half.
Davis launched seven of those shots for the Big Red while
Mara McGlone had five attempts. Rahman and Dalimonte were the lone Denison players with two shots attempts on goal.
Next up, Denison will return home to host Oberlin College at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, October 17.
