Big Red close out Gregory Last Chance Meet

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Headlined by three new personal records and a trio of top-three finishes, Denison men's and women's track & field closed out their two-day showing at North Central College's Gregory Last Chance Invitational on Thursday evening at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium in Naperville, Illinois.

Opening competition for the Big Red men on Thursday was freshman Jacob Brown who closed out the decathlon with a third-place performance and a new personal-best total of 5,591 points across 10 events. Totaling a pair of top-two showings in the second day of action, Brown's best finish came in the javelin throw when he won the event with a maximum launch of 138'1" (42.08 meters). He claimed a second-place showing in the 110-meter hurdles when he crossed the finish line in 16.32.

Brown also secured a pair of fourth place finishes in the pole vault and the 1,500-meter run. In the pole vault, Brown placed fourth overall with a vault of 11'11.75" (3.65 meters) before earning the same finish in the 1,500-meter run at 4:52.82.

Sophomore Charlie Webb tallied a pair of second place finishes on Thursday, including a second-place performance in the 400-meter hurdles where he clocked in with the sixth-fastest PR in school history at 54.69. He also competed in the 110-meter hurdles and tied for second overall with a final time of 14.88. Freshman Monica Bradford also competed in the 100-meter hurdles on the women's side where she finished in fourth place after clocking in at 15.19 seconds in the event.

Continuing in the women's events, sophomore Erin Anderson set a new PR in the 400-meter dash when she checked in with the school's seventh-fastest personal-best time of 59.83 in third place. On the men's side in the 100-meter dash, junior Seven Lindsey posted a wind-aided time of 10.73 to end the event in fifth place.

In the distance events, junior Keanan Ginell led the way for the Big Red when he placed seventh overall in the 1,500-meter run with a final time of 4:09.91.

Denison will await the release of the 2021 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championship field on Friday, May 21 at 8 p.m. This year's National Championships will take place May 27-29 at North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro, North Carolina.
