GRANVILLE, Ohio—No. 15 Denison improved to 2-0 on the season after a 22-9 victory over the College of Wooster from Piper Stadium on Saturday afternoon. The Big Red was led in scoring by
Casey McTague who finished with five goals while
Liza Farnham,
Josie Lucchesi and
Lindsey Karsh all posted hat tricks.
- Denison held a 5-3 lead with 13 minutes left in the first half, but the Big Red went on a 6-0 run to close out the period to take an 11-3 lead into the second half.
- The Big Red scored a season-high 22 goals on 50 shot attempts. 42 of their shots were on-goal. Wooster goalie Katie Shideler was busy all afternoon as she finished with 18 saves in 49 minutes.
- In addition to her five goals, McTague also added four ground balls, three draw controls and one caused turnover.
- Charlotte Godfrey paced the defense with five caused turnovers, seven ground balls and 10 draw controls.
- Denison goalie Maeve Caldwell finished with eight saves.
The Big Red will open North Coast Athletic Conference divisional play on Thursday when they travel to Springfield, Ohio for a 7 p.m. draw against Wittenberg.
