The Denison women's track and field team sent a small group of athletes to the Marv Frye Invitational at the George Gauthier Track in Delaware, Ohio.
Despite the lack of numbers, the Big Red still registered four top-5 performance on Sunday afternoon. Sophomore Arlesha Cospy led the way by winning the discus with a toss of 143'1". Cospy also posted a mark two inches shy of her personal best in the hammer throw (115'6").
Freshman Alyssa Bahel was runner-up in the 5,000-meter run after turning in the top time by a North Coast Athletic Conference runner, completing the event in 19:06.94. Senior Kate Benson and sophomore Emily Grabauskas both turned in fourth-place finishes in the 1,500 and 800-meter events, respectively. Benson checked in at 5:00.31, while Grabauskas crossed the line in 2:24.70.
The Bishops won the team title with 158 points, 37.5 points better than second-place Ohio Northern (120.5). Case Western (104), Heidelberg (76.5) and Kenyon (62) rounded out the top-5 slots in the team standings. The Big Red finished eighth with 28 points.
Denison returns to action next Saturday at the All-Ohio Championship on the campus of Ohio Wesleyan University. Field events are scheduled to begin at 11:30 a.m., while the first running event is slated to start at 12 p.m.
