The Denison women's outdoor track and field team placed seventh out of 20 teams after scoring 45 points at the 2015 Division III All-Ohio Championship held at Ohio Wesleyan University.
Denison junior All-American Aedin Brennan paced the Big Red at the All-Ohio meet with 28 of the team's 45 points. One week ago, Brennan earned eight points after finishing second in the heptathlon with 4,632 points.
On Saturday, the junior captured two event championships a pair of school-record performances. Brennan's first victory came in the triple jump where she successfully defended her title with a personal-best mark of 37'11.25". That mark was a .75" improvement on her previous school record mark set in 2013 (36'10.50"). Brennan also re-set her own school mark in the 400 hurdles with a winning time of 1:01.96, shaving almost two seconds off the previous record set on April 19, 2014. It also marked the second-straight year she posted the fastest time in the event.
Freshman Hannah Hall had the next highest finish with a third-place performance in the high jump. Hall earned six points towards the team score after successfully clearing 5'3.75". Senior Abbi Boss and freshman Arlesha Cospy each logged fifth-place finishes in their respective events. Boss finished the 5,000-meter run with a time of 18:22.13, while Copsy's toss of 130'8" in the discus was a personal-best. That 5'8" improvement from her previous PR moved her into second on the school's top performer's list for the outdoor season. Cospy also took ninth in the shot put (37'6.75").
Junior Kate Benson rounded out the scoring with her showing in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Benson finished sixth in the event with a personal-best time of 11:40.23. That time moved the junior into second on the team's top performer's list.
Mount Union won the team title with 147.50 points, while the host Bishops took second with 122 tallies. Baldwin Wallace (94.50), Otterbein (69) and Ohio Northern (58.33) rounded out the top five.
The Big Red returns to action next Saturday at the Kenyon Spring Invitational. Events are scheduled to begin at 12 p.m.
