The Denison women's track & field team closed out their spring break trip to Florida with a two-day event at Emory University in Atlanta, Ga. The Big Red placed 21st out of 27 teams with 13 points.
Freshmen Hannah Hall and Allison Pineault combined for all 13 of DU's points. On Friday, Hall finished tied for second after clearing 5'3.75" in the high jump. That mark moves the freshman into second on the program's top performers list for the outdoor season. Pineault also landed on the list in the pole vault after successfully clearing 10'0.75". Pineault's mark earned her third place in the event and the fourth spot on DU's top performers list.
Also turning in a strong performances were junior Kate Benson and freshman Jessica Nix. Benson placed 20th overall and fourth in the B-section of the 5,000-meter run with a time of 19:26.94. Nix finished the 100 hurdles in 17.40, which was good enough for 10th on the school's top performers list.
Jacksonville State won the team title with 100.50 points, while Cedarville (96), Emory (80), Montevallo (50) and West Georgia (45) rounded out the top five.
The Big Red returns to action next Saturday at the Carnegie Mellon Mini Invitational held in Pittsburgh, Pa.
