For the second year in a row, the Big Red women's track and field team took third at the North Coast Athletic Conference Outdoor Championship hosted by Oberlin College. Denison compiled 102 points over the course of two days, a 12-point improvement from last year's meet. At the end of the championship meet, senior Tiffany Davis earned her third-straight NCAC Outdoor Sprinter of the Year award and the sixth of her collegiate career. Additionally, sophomore Aedin Brennan was named NCAC Field Athlete of the Year for the second time in the outdoor season.
Davis capped off her final NCAC Championship meet in style. In addition to defending both her 100 and 200-meter titles, the senior sprinter also broke both conference marks on Saturday afternoon. In the 100 dash, Davis won her third-consecutive title with an NCAC record time of 12.17. That time topped the previous mark set in 2003 by former Denison standout Jackie Berner (12.25).
Thirty minutes later, the senior was back on the track to try and capture her third-straight 200-meter crown. Davis broke the tape two hundredths of a second in front of Kenyon's Sierra DeLeon to win the event. After re-setting her own conference mark with a time of 24.77 in the prelims on Friday, Davis bested the league record once again with a time of 24.66. DeLeon finished in 24.68.
Brennan helped provide 36 points for the Big Red on Saturday. The sophomore opened the day with a sixth-place finish in the javelin (112'1"). She captured her third NCAC triple jump title and her first win of the day with a mark of 36'9". Brennan followed that up with another victory, this time in the 400-meter dash. The sophomore crossed the finish line in a personal-best time of 56.97, 45 hundredths of a second ahead of Ohio Wesleyan's Sierra Wright. In her final individual event, she placed sixth in the 200-meter dash with a PR time of 26.11.
In addition to her individual performances, Brennan was also part of two relay teams. Brennan along with Davis, Kiki Yewer and Olivia Ireland took second in the 4x100 relay with a combined time of 48.60. That time ranks fourth all-time in program history. Later in the day, Brennan, Yewer and Ireland teamed up with Kate Benson to finish seventh in the 4x400 with a time of 4:09.72. Yewer also took sixth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.94.
Freshman Anne Lee earned All-NCAC for the second time in her career after placing third in the triple jump. Lee finished the event with a personal-best mark of 34'0.75", which moved her into third on DU's top performers list. The Big Red also added six points to their total in the distance events. Senior Olivia Galano took fourth in the 5,000-meter run with a PR performance. After running a personal-best time at the Jesse Owens Classic on April 18, Galano shaved exactly two seconds off that performance at the NCAC Championship. The senior finished the race in 17:40.64. Junior Abbi Boss rounded out the scoring with an eighth-place finish in the 1500-meter event (4:53.63).
Ohio Wesleyan won the team title with 229 points, while the host Yeowomen took second with 124 tallies. Denison was third, followed by Allegheny (97), Wittenberg (87), Wooster (68), DePauw (58) and Kenyon (50).
