The Dension women's track and field team finished eighth at the All-Ohio Division III Championship after accumulating 36 points on Saturday in Delaware, Ohio.
Sophomore Aedin Brennan paced the Big Red with a pair of victories at the annual event. A runner-up at last year's event, Brennan captured the triple jump title with a combined leap of 36'9". Freshman Anne Lee finished ninth in the event with a mark of 33'7.50.
In addition to her victory in the triple jump, Brennan also won the 400-meter hurdles after breaking the tape in 1:04.35. The sophomore also scored in the long jump and as a member of the 4x100 relay team. Brennan finished fifth in the long jump with a mark of 17'2.25", and finished eighth in the 4x100 relay with teammates Kiki Yewer, Lee and Olivia Ireland. The foursome completed the race in 51.08.
Yewer also had a pair of strong individual performances. The second-year sprinter kicked off the event with a fourth-place finish in the prelims of the 100-meter dash. Yewer completed the preliminaries with a time of 12.57. Later in the day, she recorded a PR time of 12.48 en route to take fourth in the event. Yewer moved from eighth to third on the top performers list with her time in the 100-dash finals. The sophomore sprinter also had a personal-best time of 26.71 in the 200, which moved her into ninth on Denison's top performers list.
Mount Union won the team title with 136 points, edging second-place Ohio Wesleyan by 13 tallies. Baldwin Wallace was third with 114.50 points, while Defiance (77) and Otterbein (69) rounded out the top five. The Big Red finished with 36 points.
In addition to competing at the All-Ohio Championship, Denison also sent two runners to the Bison Outdoor Classic hosted by Bucknell University. Senior Olivia Galano and junior Abbi Boss both ran in Central Pennsylvania.
Galano finished seventh out of 37 runners in the 10,000-meter run on Saturday night. The senior distance runner completed the race in 36:03.07. Galano's time was a personal best and moved her into second on the school's top performers list for the outdoor 10,000-meter event. Boss competed in the unseeded 5,000-meter run at Bucknell. In the 70-runner event, the junior won her heat and finished 18th overall with a time of 18:19.21.
Denison returns to action next weekend when they compete at both the Jesse Owens Classic hosted by The Ohio State University and at the Kenyon College Invitational.
