Denison places 6th at Marv Frye Invite

Denison captured four event titles and totaled 56 points en route to a sixth-place finish at the Ohio Wesleyan University Marv Frye Invitational on Saturday in Delaware, Ohio.

Junior Tiffany Davis and freshman Aedin Brennan each won two events on Saturday.  Davis captured the 100 and 200-meter dash titles, while Brennan was victorious in the triple jump and the 400-meter hurdles.  Davis posted a personal-best time of 12.32 in the 100, and completed the 200 in 25.51.

Brennan won the triple jump with a school record leap of 36-03.00.  That mark passed the previous record set by the rookie at the Carnegie Mellon Mini Invite last weekend (35-06.50).  In the 400 hurdles, Brennan was seven hundredths of a second shy of tying the school mark set by Laura Hegyes in 1989.  The first-year completed the event in 1:04.99.  Brennan also took sixth in the 100-meter hurdles after clocking in at 15.97.  That performance ranks her fifth on the school's top performers list.

Freshman Emily Lamm and senior Michelle Clark each posted a pair of fourth-place finishes at Ohio Wesleyan.  Lamm placed fourth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:20.03.  Lamm's time ranks sixth on DU's top performers list.  Clark took fourth in the 5,000-meter event with a time of 18:26.72.  Senior Anne McGinty took seventh in the 5000 after crossing the finish line in 18:48.53.  With that time, McGinty became the fourth DU runner to qualify in the 5,000-meter run at the North Coast Athletic Conference Championship meet in May.

Sophomore Kristen Geary rounded out the scoring for the Big Red.  The second-year pole vaulter cleared 9-08.00, which landed her in eighth place.

The Big Red returns to Delaware next Saturday for the Division III All-Ohio Championships.  Events are scheduled to begin at 11:30 a.m.
