DU competes at lone home meet

The Big Red Invitational took place on Friday night at Piper Stadium and the Denison women posted four first-place finishes at the unscored meet that featured competitors from Wittenberg, Ohio Wesleyan, Wooster, Kenyon, Ohio Christian, Wheeling Jesuit, and Allegheny.

Sprinter Tiffany Davis placed first among the collegiate competitors in the 100 meter dash, crossing the finish line in 12.05 seconds.  Davis would return to win the 200 meter dash with a time of 25.60 seconds.

In the pole vault, sophomore Kristen Geary cleared 9'6 ¼" to win the event.  That height just missed Geary's PR of 9'8" set last season and once this season.

DU's fourth win came in the 5,000 meter race that consisted of five Big Red runners.  Leading the pack was first-year Lindsey Studebaker who covered the 12 and a half lap race in 20:19.45.

First-year Emily Lamm posted a time of 2:21.33 in the 800 meters which placed her second to Ohio Wesleyan's Katie Reid (2:19.40).

In the 3,000 meter run, senior Anne McGinty posted a PR of 10:48.21.  That time ranks third on Denison's top-10 all-time performances in the event.  It landed her in second place overall, followed only by junior Olivia Galano who clocked in at 10:54.45.

The Big Red was the runner-up in both relays on Friday night.  In the 4x100, Aedin Brennan, Kendra Epstein, Kiki Yewer, and Davis crossed in 50.24 seconds.  In the 4x400 meter relay that closed the meet, Lamm, Wendy Geslewitz, Ashley Bartreau, Jillian Reagan posted a time of 4:45.79.

The North Coast Athletic Conference heptathlon will begin tomorrow (April 27) and continue through Sunday at Selby Stadium in Delaware, Ohio.  Aedin Brennan will compete for the Big Red.  She placed 10th in the nation in the indoor pentathlon in March.
