The Denison women's track & field team competed in split squad action on Saturday with athletes participating at both the Jesse Owens Track Classic hosted by The Ohio State University and the Kenyon Invitational in Gambier, Ohio.
In Columbus at the Jesse Owens Classic, the Big Red had four athletes compete in four different events with athletes from all three NCAA divisions and NAIA athletes. In Friday's 1500-meter run, freshman Emily Lamm finished fourth among Division III runners and 40th overall with a time of 4:53.44.
On Saturday, freshman Aedin Brennan and junior Tiffany Davis combined for three top-20 finishes. Brennan was ninth in the triple jump after recording a distance of 34-04.50. The rookie also finished 15th in the 400 hurdles with a time of 1:06.55. In the 200, Davis crossed the finish line in 25.62 en route to an 18th-place finish.
In Gambier, Denison posted three top-5 finishes en route to a ninth-place finish in the team standings. Junior Olivia Galano and freshman Mollie Evans secured two of the top five spots in the 5000-meter event. Galano won the race with a time of 19:05.79, while Evans finished fifth after clocking in at 19:58.43. Sophomore Kristen Geary picked up the third top-5 performance after taking third in the pole vault. Geary cleared 9'06.25 en route to taking the bronze.
Kiki Yewer, Beth Armitage and Rebecca Fritch also recorded top-10 finishes. Yewer was eighth in the 200-meter dash (29.05), while Armitage took ninth in the 800 with a time of 2:32.50. In the shot put, first-year Rebecca Fritch placed 10th after a toss of 31'03.25.
Denison will host the annual Big Red Invitational on Friday at Deeds Field-Piper Stadium.
