The Denison women's outdoor track and field team finished fourth after scoring 53 points at the 2013 Division III All-Ohio Championship hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University. Their fourth-place finish marked the best program finish since DU won the All-Ohio Championship title in 2004.
The Big Red posted eight top-5 finishes at the event. Junior sprinter Tiffany Davis logged Denison's lone victory in the 100-meter dash. After winning the prelim with a time of 12.51, Davis posted a time of 12.50 in the finals.
First-year Aedin Brennan finished in the top four in three events, including a school-record performance in the long jump. Brennan finished runner up in both the 400-meter hurdles and triple jump with performances of 1:05.36 and 36-00.00, respectively. In the long jump, the freshman recorded a leap of 17-04.25 en route to finishing in fourth place. Brennan distance surpassed the previous school record set by Katie Castille in 2000 by 5.75".
First-year Emily Lamm scored in two events to help the Big Red cause. Lamm took second in the 1500 run with a personal-best time of 4:48.06. The rookie also finished eighth in the 800-meter event after crossing the finish line in 2:22.99. Senior Anne McGinty and freshman Sarah McKendry finished fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 10,000-meter run. McGinty recorded a time of 39:11.13, which ranks fourth on the school's top performers list, while McKendry checked in at 40:27.30.
The foursome of Kiki Yewer, Kendra Epstein, Brennan and Davis rounded out the scoring with a fifth-place finish in the 4x100 relay. The DU grouping posted a combined time of 50.56.
Mount Union won the team title with 145.50 points, while the host Bishops finished second (98). Baldwin Wallace (65), Denison and Heidelberg (51) rounded out the top five.
The Big Red returns to competition on Saturday when they travel to Gambier, Ohio for the Kenyon Invitational.
