Denison senior Beth Armitage and junior Tiffany Davis opened their 2013 outdoor track & field season at the Rhodes Open on Saturday in Memphis, Tenn.

Davis posted a pair of top-20 finishes, highlighted by a fourth-place finish in the 100-meter dash.  The reigning North Coast Athletic Conference Sprinter of the Year completed the race in 12.34, best her previous PR by two hundredths of a second.  Davis also finished 16th in the 200-meter event with a time of 26.58.

Armitage finished in the top-30 in both the mile and 800-meter run.  The senior middle distance runner took 27th in the mile with a time of 6:09.05.  In the 800, Armitage also placed 29th after clocking in at 2:39.91.

Davis, Armitage and the rest of the Big Red return to competition next Friday and Saturday (March 22-23) at the Washington & Lee-Virginia Military Institute Carnival in Lexington, Va.
