Women's Outdoor Track

Big Red place 5th at Wooster

The Denison women's outdoor track and field team had five athletes score in multiple events en route to a fifth-place finish at the College of Wooster Invitational on Friday in Wooster, Ohio.

First-year Tiffany Davis led the way with a pair of third-place finishes in the 100 and 200-meter dash events.  Davis completed the 100 in 13 seconds flat and posted a time of 26.73 in the 200-meter dash.  Junior Alesha Stewart also recorded a pair of eighth-place finishes in the two events.  Stewart logged times of 13.51 and 28.60 in the 100 and 200, respectively.

Ani Mutafova took fourth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:30.94.  The junior followed that up with a fifth-place finish in the 1500 (5:02.29).  Classmate Kirby Mosenthal took third in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 12:07.40, while Beth Armitage was fifth in the 800 (2:36.47) and Julie Rotramel was eighth in the 1500-meter run (5:17.26).

Senior Claire Navarro and junior Georgie Strohmenger supplied the scoring in the field events for the Big Red.  Navarro took fifth in both the long jump and triple jump.  The senior recorded a distance of 15-04.25 in the long jump and 31-09.50 in the triple jump.  Strohmenger finished sixth in the triple jump (30-00.25) and seventh in the long jump (14-09.25).

Denison returns to action on Saturday (April 9) when they take part in the annual Marv Frye Invitational hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University.
