The Denison men's indoor track and field team opened the 2011 season on Saturday afternoon with an eighth place finish at the Rev. Mike Hout Invitational hosted by Capital University.

DU finished with 21 points at the meet and were led by junior Win Fox (Lancaster, Ohio/Columbus Academy) and senior Todd Johnson (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles).  Fox posted a third place finish in the 500 meter run with a time of 1:11.09 and Johnson placed second in the 800 meters after posting a time of 2:07.87.

In the men's shot put senior Steven Gallego (Lyndhurst, N.J./New Canaan[Conn.]) finished fifth after a throw of 41'00.25" to earn three points toward the Big Red's cause.  DU's point-scorers were rounded out by Chris Black (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) who took fourth in the 500 meters in 1:11.99.

Denison will return to action next Saturday (Jan. 22) when they host the annual Denison Lid-Lifter from the Mitchell Center.
