Denison women compete at Great Lakes Regional

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Led by senior Erin O'Connor, Denison women's cross country ended their 2019 season on Saturday afternoon with a 16th-place finish at the NCAA Division III Great Lakes Regional Championship meet hosted by Calvin University in Grand Rapids, Mich.

Finishing with a team score of 453, the Big Red landed 13 points ahead of St. Mary's (Ind.) in 17th place (466) while falling seven points short of 15th-place Hanover (446). John Carroll University claimed the regional championship with a final score of 83, just one point ahead of OAC-foe Baldwin Wallace.

Competing in a field of 233 runners, O'Connor highlighted DU's efforts in the 6K race with a final time of 22:56.93 to place 58th overall. Sophomore Emily Willson clocked in at 23:16.19 to finish in 80th place and Junior Sarah Radziewicz trailed Willson by less than five seconds to finish 84th at 23:20.90.

Carolyn Trent and Meagan Balch rounded out Denison's team scoring with final times of 24:00.71 (112th) and 24:09.43 (119th), respectively. Senior Sydney Lerda turned in a final time of 24:24.08 and Aileen Schretzmayer crossed the finish line at 25:56.56.

The Big Red closed out the season with a pair of top-three finishes, including a dual meet victory over Wooster (Sept. 5) and a third-place showing at the OWU Invitational (Sept. 14).
