OBERLIN, Ohio—Denison women's soccer remained unbeaten in North Coast Athletic Conference play with a 2-1 victory over Oberlin College on Wednesday.
The Big Red outshot the Yeowomen 26-6 and got on the scoreboard early when Sydney Ludes connected with Claire Kolff for her third goal of the season in the ninth minute of play.
The score grew to a 2-0 Denison lead six minutes before halftime when Riley Hammond assisted on an Amy Chiero goal.
The score remained 2-0 until the 82nd minute when Oberlin's Sydnie Savarese scored on a feed from Mikaela De Lemos. Over the final seven minutes, the Big Red put two more shots-on-goal while Oberlin was held without a shot attempt.
Logan Agin led DU with four shots while Kolff and Ludes finished with three shots apiece. Patil Tcholakian had three saves in 79 minutes in goal. Maddie Coyne played the final 11 minutes for the Big Red.
Oberlin goalkeeper Isabelle Smith kept her squad in the game, finishing with 12 saves in 90 minutes.
With the win, Denison (7-4-4) remains in second place in the NCAC with 13 points at 4-0-1. DePauw is first with a 4-0-2 record and 14 points. Kenyon (10 points) and Wooster (8 points) round out the top-four in the standings. The Big Red is also ranked fifth in the most recent United Soccer Coaches Great Lakes Regional rankings.
The Big Red travels to Springfield, Ohio on Saturday for a 5 p.m. match against Wittenberg.
