SYLVANIA, Ohio – Denison women's golf secured their third-straight team victory on Monday afternoon as they placed first overall at the 2019 Gray Wolf Invitational hosted by Lourdes University at the Sylvania Country Club. Monday's victory comes on the heels of DU's team championships at the Dan Quayle Collegiate Classic (Sept. 22) and the Ohio Wesleyan Invitational (Sept. 8).
Posting a team score of 328, the Big Red finished 24 strokes ahead of second-place Ohio Northern who finished at 352. Northwestern Ohio finished in third at 369 while tournament host Lourdes followed with a 372 to finish in fourth.
Competing against a field of 48 golfers, Denison highlighted the day's performances with all five participants finishing in the top-10, including senior Emmy Timberlake as the individual champion after she fired an 18-hole score of 79 (+7). Earning her second, first-place finish of the season, Timberlake was last victorious at the OWU Invitational on Sept. 8 when she set a new program record with a 36-hole score of 145. She has also finished in the top-five in all four tournaments this season.
The Big Red will close out their fall schedule next Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 21-22, when they travel to Rome, Ga. to compete in the 2019 Chick-fil-a Intercollegiate hosted by Berry College at the Coosa Country Club.
