COLUMBUS, Ohio ⎯ Denison women's fencing made their varsity athletics debut on Sunday afternoon as they competed at the Ohio State University Duals at the French Fieldhouse in Columbus, Ohio. Totaling an overall record of 4-2, the Big Red posted victories over club teams from Indiana (16-11), Iowa (23-4), Michigan State (15-12), and Bowling Green (26-1).

The women's epée squad went 4-2 on the day, highlighted by senior Hayley LeBlanc who tallied 11 wins on the afternoon and triumphed in a 3-2 bout victory over Ohio State's Kristen Ruscitelli. Fellow senior Tuuli Qin-Terrill led the epée group with 13 wins on the day, including a pair of undefeated marks against Michigan State and Bowling Green.

In foil action, the Big Red went 3-3 on Sunday while turning in a trio of victories over Indiana, Iowa, and BGSU. DU's Nina de Laperouse led the squad with an incredible 15-3 record while also taking a 5-1 bout from OSU's Emma Montgomery. She also earned a pair of wins over Florida's Regan Foote (5-4) and Ale Chaparro (5-3).

On the sabre strip, junior Sé DiFilippo and sophomore Shivika Churiwalla combined for seven bout wins, with the pair earning wins over Florida's Sylvia Van Boskirk, 5-1 and 5-0, respectively. Freshman Mikayla Heath recorded her first collegiate victory against the Spartans when she posted a 5-4 bout defeat of Maegan Jankowski.

In Denison's 15-12 win over MSU, the Big Red rallied from a 7-11 deficit and secured the comeback with an 8-1 victory in the epée division. DU's LeBlanc and Qin-Terrill each went 3-0 against the Spartans to help record the team win.

The Big Red will return to action on October 26-27 when they travel to Cleveland, Ohio to take part in the Cleveland State Duals.
