DU ties for 4th at Pre-NCAC

The Denison women's cross country squad traveled to Yellow Springs, Ohio for the Pre-NCAC Invitational which was hosted by Wittenberg University at John Bryan State Park.  In a preview of the NCAC Championship that will be run at the same site on Oct. 29, DU finished in a tie for fourth place out of seven teams with 84 points.  The team champion was Ohio Wesleyan who finished with 56 points.

Out of a field of 97 runners, Denison was led by senior Victoria Pottieger who finished in ninth place overall with a time of 19:55.5 on the 5,000 meter course.  Junior Michelle Clark followed in 12th place with a time of 20:02.6 and senior Ani Mutafova was 17th in 20:19.1

Just trailing Mutafova in 22nd place was Anne McGinty who crossed with a time of 20:34.2.  Olivia Galano checked in at 24th place in 20:39.0 to round out the scoring for Denison.

Capital University's Emma McCarron won the event with a time of 18:59.0.  She outdistanced second-place Jenn Willett of Kenyon by more than 13 seconds.
