Senior Katie Navarre (Upper Arlington, Ohio/Upper Arlington) placed eighth to help the Denison women's cross country team finish in a tie for fourth place at the 2010 North Coast Athletic Conference Women's Cross Country Championship meet on Saturday in Crawfordsville, Ind.
For the third-consecutive year, Navarre finished in the top 10 at the NCAC Championship. The senior completed the 6K course in 23:30.9. Trailing Navarre was fellow senior Kirby Mosenthal (Briarcliff, N.Y./Irvington) who crossed the line at 23:59.5, which landed her in 12th place. Junior Victoria Pottieger (Wyomissing, Pa./Wyomissing) finished 19th with a time of 24:06.3, while seniors Ashley Putnam (North East, Pa./North East) and Julie Rotramel (Lexington, Ky./Lafayette) rounded out the Big Red scoring with 34th and 39th-place finishes, respectively. Putnam logged a time of 24:54.1, while Rotramel finished in 25:01.0.
Oberlin edged Allegheny by two points to capture the team title, while Kenyon took third with 84 points. The Big Red and Ohio Wesleyan tied for fourth with 105 tallies each. Navarre, Mosenthal and Pottieger all earned All-NCAC honors for their finishes at the event.
Denison will compete in two weeks at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional Championship in Holland, Mich.
