Lein receives NCAC POW accolades

Lein receives NCAC POW accolades

Denison freshman middle hitter Elena Lein earned North Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Week honors after helping the Big Red to a pair of league wins last week.

DU posted a 2-2 mark overall, with the two victories coming against Wooster (3-1) and at Allegheny (3-0).  Against the Scots, Lein compiled a stunning .625 attacking percentage after converting 17 of 24 attempts with just two errors.  She also logged three solo blocks and three block assists.  In all, Lein logged 44 kills and a .381 hitting percentage in 15 sets.  The first-year also added 13 blocks (7 solo, 6 assists).

The Big Red is currently fourth in the league standings with a 3-2 record.  Three of DU's final six matches will be against league foes.

Denison opens a three-match homestand on Saturday when they host a tri-match with DePauw and Manchester.  The Big Red will bookend the day with games against the Tigers and the Spartans at 12 p.m. and 4 p.m., respectively.
