Denison suffered a pair of 3-0 setbacks to Wooster (25-17, 25-13, 25-17) and DePauw (25-17, 28-26, 25-22) on Sunday at the North Coast Athletic Conference Weekend hosted by the Fighting Scots.
Against Wooster, Lauren Strowder paced the DU attack with six kills, while Megan Early, Lauren Gustafson and Madison Owen all notched three kills. First-year Jessica Borsani handed out 14 assists, while Brooke Beavers served up two aces. Defensively, Emily Marguerite recorded a team-best 14 digs, while Strowder had two blocks.
Against the Tigers, Strowder logged a team-high 13 kills, while rookie Elsa Manning rattled off eight kills and Early added seven finishers. Senior setter Claire Koneval dished out 39 assists in the three-set match. Beavers paced the defensive effort with 24 digs, while Koneval and Brittany Brannon notched 12 and 10 digs, respectively.
The Big Red falls to 10-13 overall and 5-6 in the NCAC. DU returns to the court on Wednesday (Oct. 19) when they travel to Wittenberg University. Match time from Springfield is scheduled for 7 p.m.
