GRANVILLE, Ohio -- The 40th-ranked Denison women's tennis team punched their ticket to the semifinal round of the 2017 North Coast Athletic Conference Championship Tournament following a 5-0 decision over Allegheny on Friday morning.

The No. 3 doubles team of Ashley Hammons and Charlotte Purnode got the Big Red on the board with an 8-3 victory over Sarah Casey and Miharu Koh. The top doubles pairing of Lauren Hawley and Emma Alsup doubled the lead with an 8-5 win over Gaby DeLeon and Amanda Ress Liere. Denison completed the sweep when Megan Hickey and Olivia Underwood edged Michaela Thompson and Heidi Mueller at the second flight, 8-6.

Hawley quickly put DU one point away from victory following a 6-0, 6-0 victory over DeLeon at No. 1 singles. Alsup wrapped up the win with a straight-set decision over Thompson at second singles.

With the win, the Big Red (9-10) sets up a semifinal meeting with second-seeded Kenyon (10-9) on Saturday morning in Granville. The Ladies earned a spot in the semis with a 5-0 win over seventh-seeded Wooster (8-9). Saturday's semifinal between Denison and Kenyon is scheduled to start at 9 a.m.
