INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- Tenth-ranked Chicago knocked off 22nd-ranked Denison, 8-1, on Saturday in a regional clash.
The Big Red's lone victory came at the top doubles flight where sophomores Lauren Hawley and Emma Alsup, who are ranked 15th in Division III, defeated Rachel Kim and Marjorie Antohi via 9-7 score. Antohi avenged her loss to Alsup at No. 2 singles where she defeated the DU sophomore 7-5, 6-4. In a matchup that featured two nationally-ranked players, 16th-ranked Hawley fell to 20th-ranked Ariana Iranpour, 6-4, 6-3.
Denison falls to 0-2 on the year, while the Maroons improve to 4-0 on the season. The Big Red resumes play next Saturday (Feb. 25) when they host the Indiana University of Pennsylvania at 10 a.m.
