Geppner named NCAC POTW

Kelsey Geppner

Denison junior Kelsey Geppner was named North Coast Athletic Conference women's tennis Player of the Week after posting a 4-0 record in two matches.

Geppner extended her singles winning streak to four with victories against Wooster and Division I George Mason.  Against the Scots, Geppner improved to 2-1 at No. 1 singles thanks to a 6-1, 6-1 decision.  On Sunday against George Mason, Geppner's three-set victory over Maya Hicks secured the Big Red's victory over the Division I opponent.  The junior easily took the opening set 6-2 before dropping the second, 7-5.  In the third-and final set, Geppner won a dominating 10-2 decision.

Geppner also improved to 4-2 in doubles action following a pair of wins at the top flight.  The junior teamed with freshman Taylor Hawkins to take down Wooster's Catherine Christian and Melanie Chin (8-2).  Against the Patriots, Geppner and senior Alex Marcell knocked off Kiersten Pappas and Brittany Pilkington, 8-5.

The Big Red continues play in Hilton Head today against Baldwin Wallace University.  Match time is slated for 1 p.m.
