Denison knocks off IUP

Denison improved to 2-2 on the season following a 7-2 victory over Indiana (Pa.) University at the Mitchell Fieldhouse on the campus of Denison University.

The win marked Denison's second-straight over an NCAA Division II opponent.  Despite falling 8-5 at No. 1 doubles, the duo of Kelsey Geppner and Taylor Hawkins posted an 8-6 win at second doubles.  In the third flight, Meg Chiumento and Emma Forman dispatched Ranvita Mahto and Alanna McFail, 9-7.

In singles play, Geppner rolled to a 6-0, 6-1 win over Katie Eaton in the No. 1 flight.  At second singles, Alex Marcell clinched the victory with her win over Abby McCormick, 2-6, 2-6, 6-2.  At No. 3 singles, Hawkins handled Emilia Osbourne, 6-1, 6-2 and Denison's wins were rounded out by Chimento and Foreman in the fifth and sixth flights.

Denison will travel to The College of Wooster on Tuesday (March 5) before travelling to Hilton Head, S.C. next Sunday (March 10), where they will take on George Mason, Baldwin Wallace, Rhodes and Dickinson.
