SHENANDOAH, Texas--  The 2017 NCAA Division III Women's Swimming & Diving Championship is complete and the Denison Big Red left the Lone Star State with the program's 10th consecutive top-four finish.

Emory took home the team title with a score of 645.5.  Williams was second with 445 and Kenyon placed third with 381.  Denison posted a total of 272 points across the four-day, 20-event championship.  Following in fifth and sixth place respectively were MIT (165) and Washington-St. Louis (161).

Saturday's finals began with the 1,650 freestyle where Campbell Costley capped off her brilliant career at Denison with her best finish in the event.  She touched in fifth place with a time of 16:54.14, trimming 3.71 seconds off her entry time.  Costley previously finished eighth in 2016, sixth in 2015 and eighth in 2014.  The two-time CoSIDA Academic All-America selection leaves Denison with 16 All-American performances on her resume.

Swimming in the afternoon's timed finals of the 1,650 freestyle, Natalie Zaravella posted a time of 17:12.45 which placed her 13th.  She lowered her entry time by 2.66 seconds.  It was the second All-American swim of the meet for Zaravella. She placed ninth in Thursday night's 400 IM.

In the 100 freestyle, Carolyn Kane swam her last individual event at nationals and placed fifth in the consolation final of the 100 freestyle.  Her time of 50.93 resulted in a 13th place finish in the event.  It marked the fourth consecutive All-American finish for Kane in the 100 free.

First-year standout KT Kustritz swam the 200 breaststroke in 2:17.64 which was good enough for seventh place. She leaves her first national meet a six-time All-American.

Denison's 400 freestyle relay qualified for the consolation final and finished 15th overall in 3:27.30.  Gabriella Nutter, Kane, Angela Le and Kustritz represented the Big Red in the event.  Kane's 100 free split of 51.08 on the third leg of the relay paced the squad.

In all, Denison posted 21 All-American performances and 12 top-eight finishes.  Second place finishes by Costley in the 500 free, Kustritz in the 100 breaststroke and the 200 medley relay team of Casey Kirby, Kustritz, Angela Le and Kane highlighted the championship.  In all, this is the 24th top-four finish by the Denison women's swimming & diving program at Division III nationals.
